Attendance Management

Attendance tracking, percentage calculation, margin-of-safety rules, and projections in Attendrix.

Attendance Management

Attendrix empowers students to maintain total visibility over their institutional attendance, track compliance against the mandatory 80% or 75% thresholds, and project future attendance scenarios.

ATTENDANCE TRACKING INVARIANT
INV-ATT-01

Attendrix operates on an inverted attendance model: presence is the default state. Students explicitly log absences when they skip a lecture, eliminating repetitive daily check-ins.

Key Features

1. One-Tap Absence Logging

  • Mark or unmark absences directly from the dashboard or timetable view with a single tap.
  • Offline Reliability: If network connectivity drops, absences are queued locally in encrypted storage and synchronized automatically once back online.

2. Live Percentage Calculations

Attendance percentages are calculated in real time against all non-cancelled classes conducted up to the current moment:

Attendance % = ((Total Conducted Classes - Logged Absences) / Total Conducted Classes) * 100

3. Bunk Margin Calculator

Never calculate class cutoffs manually again. Attendrix computes your exact safety margin:

  • Bunk Margin: How many upcoming lectures you can miss while keeping your attendance strictly at or above the threshold.
  • Recovery Deficit: If your attendance dips into the danger zone, Attendrix computes the exact number of consecutive classes you must attend to get back in good standing.

How It Works in Practice

ActionUI ResultDatabase Mechanism
Class AttendedNo action required. Badge displays green "Present".Implicit state. No database write occurs.
Class SkippedTap "Mark Absent". Badge flips to red "Absent".Calls mark_absent RPC, inserting row in public.absences.
Accidental TapTap "Undo / Mark Present". Badge reverts to green.Calls un_mark_absent RPC, deleting row from public.absences.
Class CancelledMarked with strikethrough badge "Cancelled".Excluded from percentage totals; no absence can be logged.
